FidoFitness is a fun and exciting way to for you and your dog to get fit! FidoFitness uses elements of a range of dog sports including CaninCross, Agility, Flyball, Obedience and Rally Obedience to provide an action packed and fun class for dogs and their handlers.
The dogs have great fun and build foundational skills as well as coordination, strength and all round conditioning. Great for a family pet wanting a fun activity to do or for a seasoned competitor wanting to add a fun element to their dogs conditioning programme.
But FidoFitness is not simply dog training. It is specifically designed to work on and build the handlers fitness levels also. Including their strength, coordination, agility and conditioning.

Get Fit With Your Dog!
There are always a lot of questions when it comes to FidoFitness. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we have received. There are obviously a lot more questions, so feel free to get in touch with us and ask away.
What should I bring to the session?
Just bring yourself, in appropriate clothing (see below), and maybe bring a small bottle of water. You will also need to bring your dog and water for them. Plus don’t forget your pooh bags!
What should I wear?
Some people wear baggy, loose fitting bottoms or shorts and a t shirt. Other people wear tight, stretchy leggings + tops. The only thing that matters is that you wear comfortable clothes that you can easily move in. Please dress appropriately for the weather. You also need to wear suitable safe footwear as you will be outdoors on grass.
Your dog will need a collar with an ID tag, and a lead. No check chains or half check chains; the collar must be flat. Harnesses are not advisable. Please bring a flat lead, not flexi-leads. You should also bring some dog treats with you.
Where do sessions take place?
Sessions take place outdoors on a training field.
Can all dogs take part?
Dogs can take part as long as they are physically healthy and have had their injections. Puppies will not be able to do the full session, but the coach will adapt the session for them. Please only bring dogs which are sociable with other dogs.
When should I not come?
Please do not bring dogs which are unwell, or bitches (female dogs) which are in season. Please also do not come if you are unwell.
Do sessions run in wet weather?
If it is raining, snowing or the ground is too wet, then sessions will not run. Please check our Twitter or Facebook page before setting off.
Do I need any exercise equipment?
All the equipment you need for sessions is provided.
When should I eat before a session?
When it comes to food and digestion, everyone is different and needs to find out what works for them. In general, we do not recommend eating a large meal within 2 hours of a session - if you must eat within 2 hours of a session then a light meal or snack that it easily digested is best. Its recommended to be hydrated before a session so drink some water.
Should I feed my dog before I come to session?
You should not feed your dog for at least an hour before coming to session, preferably two clear hours before the start of the session.
What if I am late for a session?
Ideally, please arrive a few minutes before the session starts. But things happen, and sometimes people are late, we totally understand. If you can let us know beforehand, but if not please still come to the session, and just quietly enter the session so as not to disturb others.
Can I drop into a session?
If there is space in a session you may be able to drop in, but you would need to check beforehand to see if there is space.
What exercises do we do?
FidoFitness is designed to get you outdoors and active with your dog. Activities include fun games and cardio activities, but also relays and some obedience drills. FidoFitness is also great training for those interested in building or honing foundation Agility, Flyball or CaniCross skills (running with dogs). We will also cover techniques to safely run with your dog.
If you are already competing in Agility, Flyball or CaniCross then FidoFitness will help build yours and your dogs’ strength, conditioning and fitness.
My dog isn’t very well trained, will this be a problem?
Dogs do not have to have any formal training to attend session. FidoFitness will help foundation skills training but this is not its main purpose. Your coach will be able to give advice on training and we do provide 121 dog training sessions also.
Are dogs kept on lead?
Yes dogs are kept on lead at all times whilst at the session and in all session exercises.
My dog needs to lose weight will this help?
It will. Whilst your dog is overweight, we may have to adjust the exercises but that is fine.
Are your coaches qualified and insured in dog training?
Our coach who runs FidoFitness is a Kennel Club Accredited Instructor in Dog Training specialising in Non-Competition Agility. He is also qualified in veterinary pharmacy and small animal hydrotherapy. As if that wasn’t enough, he is qualified in personal training of humans and group exercise training. We are fully insured for all activities.
Does my dog need a health check?
We will ask you to complete a health survey form. We will also ask you to complete one for your dog. If there is anything on yours or your dogs form which is of concern, then we will discuss this with you. We do offer weight checks for you and your dog by our qualified coach and Registered Animal Medicines Advisor who can also give advice on things such as dog nutrition, health checks and flea/worm treatments.
Do you have changing rooms and lockers? Where can I store my things?
The venue has toilets where you can get changed. There are no specific lockers. Never ever leave valuables in your car. We have a box that people leave keys, mobiles etc. in which is kept by a member of our team for safe keeping whilst you are running around.
Can I bring a friend or relative?
What exercises will we do, I’m worried they’ll be too difficult?
We carry out all kinds of exercises, but you only do the exercises that you feel comfortable doing. Our job is to find a training programme that you’re happy with and that you’ll stick to in order for you to reach your goal.
I'm too fat/unfit/old to come along?
Most definitely not! The whole idea of a session is to help you reach your own individual and specific fitness goals. People of all ages, abilities and weights attend and the exercises will be adapted specifically to your level.
How old does my child need to be to participate in session?
Children who are 14 years old or older are welcome to participate in group sessions.
Can I join a session once it’s in session?
Participants can enter sessions up to 15 minutes after the scheduled start time.
How and when do I pay?
We prefer you to pay via credit/debit card via our booking system, but you can if you wish, pay by cash or via a BACs transfer. All monies are non-refundable unless the session is cancelled.
What if I need to cancel a session?
A minimum of 24 hours’ notice of cancellation is required for all sessions, so we can reallocate your session. Notice of less than 24 hours will incur full payment of the session fee. To cancel please either use the online tool, email or text us.
What if I’m running late?
If the client is late for a session the session will not be extended and will end at the appointed time. If the trainer is late, additional time will be added to the session.
I don’t respond well to barked orders, what is your approach?
Our job is to motivate you in a way that helps you meet your goals – and not to bark orders. We will be encouraging you all the way, whilst advising you on the correct exercise postures to ensure you’re putting pressure on the right muscles.
Some people respond to encouragement, whilst some like to be pushed hard; it’s all about having an honest partnership where we have an open feedback loop so you’re happy with our sessions and how we motivate you – with the ultimate aim to help you achieve your goals.
I haven’t worked out recently. Is it safe for me to exercise at a group session?
We believe that regular exercise is part of a healthy lifestyle. Please consult with your doctor before taking sessions if you are pregnant or are being treated for any health issues, such as back or joint pain, obesity or diabetes. When you first come to session, you will answer a quick health questionnaire. If you have any of the health issues that we’ve identified, we will ask for a follow-up signature from a health professional. This ensures that you can safely participate in session.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable workout clothes that you can move in. Some of our sessions— Yoga for example—are done barefoot, but most sessions require some form of athletic shoes. We ask that you refrain from fragrances with a strong scent.
Do you have a lost and found?
We store all items that we are left at our venues. Please contact us and let us know what you are looking for. It is our policy to hold lost items for two months and then donate unclaimed items to a local charity.
