Dog Training FAQs
There are always a lot of questions when it comes to dog training. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we have received. There are obviously a lot more questions, so feel free to get in touch with us and ask away.
How do I book private 121 dog training sessions?
Please use our online booking system. Sessions take place at your home or chosen location. The initial session will be 90mins as it includes a free 30min assessment session to get to know you and your dog. Payment is made via our online booking system at time of booking.
Can family and children be there?
Yes, absolutely. We encourage the whole family to be involved with training their dog. Our instructors are all DBS checked for your peace of mind.
Do you cancel sessions if it rains?
Not as a rule, as long as it is safe to train we will train all weathers. We will only cancel if we deem it to be unsafe for owners and dogs to train. Dog's still need exercise, even if it rains!
What should I bring?
Poo bags, Lots of yummy treats – We recommend thinly sliced sausage, chicken, ham etc rather than shop bought treats. Don't feed breakfast for morning classes, or dinner for evening classes as we use a lot of food with the reward based training and their tummies fill up quickly.
Is my dog suitable for training?
It is suitable for any puppy or dog that needs to learn new training skills, improve the skills they already have and are happy to be in and around other dogs.
If your dog is worried, scared or aggressive around dogs and people we suggest behaviour training instead.
What age can a dog or puppy start?
Puppies and dogs can attend from any age as long as they have had their 2nd vaccination. Old or young, we help them all.
What training methods do you use?
We only use modern, science based force free, reward based training using positive reinforcement. We do not condone or permit harsh handling, slip leads, or punishment.
My bitch has come into season, can I still have a session?
Seasons can sometimes be difficult to predict, and we ask owners not to train bitches in season. We will rebook your session for you.
What if I have more than one dog who requires training?
We do not charge any extra for there being a second dog at the same home if you book a session.
Do you come to my home to perform the training?
Yes, we will perform the training at your home with you, your family and the dog, or depending on what we are working on we may meet at a park or agreed location.
How long is the training session?
We offer 1 hours sessions.
Is there anything I should do before the first session?
It’s very useful to make a list of all the behaviours and questions you would like help with prior to me visiting. And where possible should include environments where unwanted behaviours are happening. We also send you a link in your booking confirmation to an online form we ask you to complete before the session.
How and when do I pay?
We prefer you to pay via credit/debit card via our booking system, but you can if you wish, pay by cash or via a BACs transfer. All monies are non-refundable.
What if I need to cancel a session?
A minimum of 24 hours notice of cancellation is required for all appointments, so we can reallocate your session. Notice of less than 24 hours will incur full payment of the session fee. To cancel please either use the online tool, email or text us.
What if I’m running late?
If the client is late for a session the session will not be extended and will end at the appointed time. If the trainer is late, additional time will be added to the session or to subsequent sessions.
Are you qualified and insured?
