Dog First Aid Courses

Being a dog owner is one of the most rewarding and joyful experiences we can have, but do you truly know how to protect your four legged family member, or how to respond if they had an accident, were taken ill or needed life saving CPR?
Our Dog First Aid Course is taught face to face in a small group size, by a veterinary professional. It lasts 4 hours and is literally life saving!

Dog First Aid Course Contents
This course covers the essentials that all dog owners should know, including:
Administering first aid and the legal and ethical restrictions of doing so.
Planning for a canine first aid emergency.
Keeping the first aider safe and dealing with (and handling) an injured dog.
Checking key vital signs (respiration, pulse, temperature, mucous membranes).
Signs and treatment of: shock, choking, open wounds, strains and sprains.
Discussion of other common conditions and possible treatments.
Hyperthermia, hypothermia, and gastric torsion / bloat.
A dog’s needs, symptoms of illness and responsibilities of dog ownership.
Preventative measures Inc.: health monitoring, conditioning, and insurance.
Lifesaving Canine CPR training.
Dog-loving, Skilled & Experienced
Taught using powerful presentations and video clips, practical hands on exercises (including bandaging), and use of the latest in dog CPR training with Casper the CPR training aid, you can practice giving CPR to a dog.
Taught by a fully qualified and insured instructor, who has years of experience working with dogs both professionally in practice as originally a Canine Hydrotherapist for Service Dogs, and latterly a Veterinary Pharmacist and DEFRA Suitably Qualified Person To Prescribe & Supply Veterinary Medication. In his personal life Gary is a Kennel Club Accredited Instructor (Non-Competition Agility), was for 10 years an Assistant Group Steward at Crufts Dog Show, and is Head of Canine Sports at the National Lottery Funded Canine Sports Academy. He brings this wealth of practical dog experience and dealing with Dog First Aid incidents to really bring the Dog First Aid Course to life, with interesting real life examples.

Accredited by the Animal Medicines Training Regulatory Authority
We are very pleased to be able to confirm that all our courses have been accredited by the Animal Medicines Training Regulatory Authority (AMTRA) for 3.5 hours of CPD achieving 14 CPD Points. Our AMTRA Reference is A2787.
AMTRA is the agency appointed by the governments Secretary Of State. This means that an SQP (Suitably Qualified Person) can gain CPD points from our courses.

All course participants will receive a certificate of attendance after the course by email, which will be spelled as their name is entered on the booking form below.
